Before the game against Newcastle, the Arsenal manager has given his pre-match conference. The loss to West Ham in the midweek has made things difficult for the Gunners going forward. Injuries threaten to ruin Arsenal’s season as two star players have been ruled out so far. Gabriel Jesus remains out and now Martin Odegaard is considered a doubt for the game against Newcastle. But according to Mikel Arteta there might be hope for Odegaard to return from injury for the weekend game.
Tough fixtures ahead for the Gunners
With the upcoming match against Newcastle, it might be a tough fixture as the black and whites are in a splendid form. Newcastle have defeated Man United, Paris St-Germain and even treble winners Man City this season. After the game against Newcastle, The London club has to face Spanish side Sevilla in the Champions League. With two of their main players out, it might become a struggle for them to score against the Newcastle defense. The upcoming fixture against Sevilla can prove to be even more difficult with the defensive lineup Sevilla has with the likes of Sergio Ramos.
Martin Odegaard injury update
The Arsenal Manager believes that the skipper might play against Newcastle as his injury is not serious. Arteta described to the media that Odegaard has a hip issue and may play in the weekend game. However, his final status will be determined after his training session performance.
“He had a little issue [hip]. He felt a lot better in the last few days. He will train today and if he is fine, he will be ready.”
The Spaniard said at the London Colney, according to James Olley of ESPN. Although, the presence of Odegaard on the bench may be a possibility, his game time in the match against Newcastle remains a doubt.
