Manager now claims £86m player is being affected by Chelsea interest

Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim believes Viktor Gyokeres is being affected by interest from Chelsea and other clubs.

Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with the Evening Standard claiming that the 25-year-old is on Chelsea‘s shortlist.

And Ruben Amorim, speaking to A Bola and the rest of the Portuguese media,

Says all the speculation surrounding the player’s future is affecting him.

Also Gyokeres has been in fine form for Sporting this season, scoring 10 goals in 13 league appearances.

It will not be easy to get him out of the club, however,

Also With Sporting wanting his €100m (£86m) release clause to be paid.

Chelsea interest affecting Viktor Gyokeres and his performance

Amorim has claimed that Chelsea’s interest in Gyokeres is impacting the striker.

The Sporting boss said: “I think he’s improved the team, the fans like him a lot. We have to look at the other side: today there’s talk that Arsenal and Chelsea are interest in him. He was in England, right next to them, in the Championship. Sporting have improved Gyokeres and Gyokeres has improved Sporting, he’s brought a new energy.

“[Interest from other clubs] It affects all players, I can feel it sometimes in [Goncalo] Inacio, I can feel it in other players and Viktor is no exception.”

As of now, it does not look too serious and it would be quite a surprise if the Blues ended up going for him.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen appears to be the man that they really want as the Nigeria international continues to be link to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

He is the striker that the club are probably going to go all out for before moving on to other names like Gyokeres if they fail to land the 24-year-old.

Osimhen continues to impress in Serie A, scoring seven goals in 12 league appearances this season. He also provided an incredible assist for team-mate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia over the weekend. Right now, he looks like the complete centre-forward.
