Liverpool might sign Moises Caicedo outbidding Chelsea’s offer

About Football Express UK

Reports claimed Liverpool and Seagulls have agreed to a record transfer fee of £110 million for the Ecuadorian midfielder leaked early on Friday morning.  However as of now, Caicedo has not yet agreed personal terms with Liverpool. But Reds are already planning to complete medicals for the midfielder as soon as possible at the AXA Training Centre. The Ecuadorian international, though, is certain to have changed his mind. He has decided to remain in London after having made it clear that he only wants to move from Brighton to Chelsea. But Chelsea has not yet returned with an upgraded offer for Brighton midfielder.

Liverpool Boss confirms that a deal with Brighton for landing Caicedo

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai joined the Reds squad this summer. However at least one more addition is anticipated before the transfer market closes. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, two veteran midfielders, moved out to join Saudi Arabian clubs Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad, respectively. James Milner, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also left the club after their contracts ended.

As a result, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is eager to bolster his team even further as they attempt to recover from last season’s failure to make it to the Champions League. Liverpool and Brighton have agreed to a massive transfer fee of over £110 million for Moises Caicedo, revealed by Klopp.

“I can confirm the deal with the club is agreed, whatever that means because we want the player and not any kind of agreement, we will see,” Klopp confirms.

Liverpool Boss adds that, “We are a club that doesn’t have endless resources, we didn’t expect a couple of things happening in the summer, like Henderson and Fabinho [leaving], stuff like this.”

Klopp wants to sign Caicedo after missing out on Bellingham. He says, “We didn’t think about that before the summer, to be honest, and then it happened. We gave [Jude Bellingham] a go and the club was really stretched. We will see [what happens with Caicedo].”

Caicedo personally would like to join Chelsea

However, there are serious concerns because Caicedo have told Liverpool that he wants to transfer to Chelsea ( via Fabrizio Romano). Hence the Blues are certain to be on the verge of re-entering the race again.

Despite Liverpool hijacked the deal, Chelsea feel Caicedo is likely to join them. Caicedo declined to travel to the north for a medical and stayed in London. In order to sign Caicedo before Liverpool visits Stamford Bridge tomorrow, Chelsea may be obliged to break the British transfer record for the second time in six months (they signed Enzo Fernández for £105 million in January).

However Brighton intends to make sure that their midfielder is going to Anfield instead of Stamford Bridge. This is because Liverpool offered a greater bid than Chelsea. Thus only time will tell whether Chelsea might go that far to sign Caicedo keeping in mind about FFP rules.
