Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted to having rejected two bids from Chelsea for Wesley Fofana in the transfer window this summer.

The Foxes manager believes the bids were ‘nowhere near’ the valuation set for the player for a potential move.

The Blues want to add another name in the backline for the new season as they lack quality and depth. Moreover, the exits of Christensen and Rudiger have forced manager Thomas Tuchel to search for players this summer.

Leicester City to continue with Wesley Fofana

Wesley Fofana signed a new contract with the Foxes back in March that keeps him till the 2026-27 season. Despite the contract renewal, a potential move to Stamford Bridge has been under much speculation.

Rodgers was quizzed by the media regarding the player’s move to the London-based club this summer. He said-

“There was two, but nowhere near what the club would consider. We’re not looking to sell.

He’s a top young defender and there are not too many around his age.

Rodgers admitted to have rejected the bids made by Chelsea, he believes another year will be crucial for his development. He further added-

“Another year for him at least would be really important for his development. Wesley is quite calm on the situation. He is aware of the interest.

He’s just getting on with his work.”

Chelsea could still improve their offer as they still need a man in the back line this season. However, Leicester remain firm on their stance regarding the player and want him to stay with the club.
