Kieran Tierney is on his way to Real Sociedad to get regular gametime

Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney has agreed a loan deal to Real Sociedad inorder to secure regular footballing action. Arsenal have decided to let him go as they cannot guarantee him regular gametime at Arsenal.

The Scottish international’s future has been a hot topic at Arsenal throughout this summer window. After signing Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer, Tierney’s place in the side was immediately under threat as Zinchenko is miles better than Tierney technically.

The Ukrainian’s ability to play as an inverted full-back saw him become Mikel Arteta’s first choice at the left back role.

This season, Arteta has already used new signings Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu at left-back. This is ahead of a left back Tierney.

Kieran Tierney to Real Sociedad could benefit both the parties

The Scottish international is now set to move to Real Sociedad. Here he’ll be hoping to play a lot more minutes for them in the league and Champions League.

It would be a real coup for Imanol Alguacil’s team to bring in the Scottish international on a loan basis. But if they could get him to stay there in a permanent deal then that would do a lot of good for the Spanish side.

The Express have suggested Tierney could have a medical as soon as this Sunday. Mikel Arteta doesn’t appear to want to use the 26-year-old as cover this weekend. That is despite Tomiyasu and Timber being unavailable to Arsenal.

They go on to say that Sociedad are not expected to have an option to buy Tierney. But Arsenal will receive a small loan fee for the player. However , it’s hard to see Tierney having a long-term future at Arsenal after this move becoming a sucess.
