Kai Havertz sends his praises to the big Arsenal family

About Football Express UK

Kai Havertz has detailed how Arsenal feels like a “big family” after his move from Chelsea. This is following “not the best season”. Though he does not regret his time there.

Havertz’s move is a big one. That he’s moving between two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs. It’s more of a statement in that the clubs also happen to be London rivals.

It would have been something of a shock had Havertz moved in any of the previous 3 seasons. Indeed, during those campaigns, the Blues finished fourth twice. And then third in the Premier League. As well as winning a Champions League and Club World Cup.

But that there was a massive influx of players last season. Coupled with a very poor campaign which saw them finish 12th. This meant a move, particularly to the side that finished second, Arsenal, made a lot of sense.

Havertz aims to create history at Arsenal

Havertz has just played his first game in a Gunners shirt. This is during pre-season against Nuremberg. And has spoken on his delight to be playing for his new side.

I’m very happy – for me it’s a very big club and now to play here is of course a dream and I’m happy to be part of this group,” he said.

It’s a young group and when I watched them last year from the outside it was fun to watch them, and I felt the energy behind the club. It’s great to be here and hopefully we’re going to have a good time and achieve a lot of things,” he added.

“From the outside it always looked like a big family and I always felt the energy whenever I played against them.

For me, it was always so tough to play against them because you felt the togetherness of the players, and now to be in there I felt very welcome from the first second. I’ve been here for a couple of days and I already feel part of the group.”

He also spoke on the decision to leave Chelsea. Although last season was underwhelming, he clearly feels his time there on the whole was positive.

“Of course you know it was not the best season for Chelsea last year. I have to say I am always going to be thankful for the club, always going to be thankful for the fans as well,” he said.

“I had a very, very nice three years. Sometimes from the outside maybe it doesn’t look like this, but it was 100% the right step to go there three years ago.
