With the win for Man United , which was helped by Marcus Rashford’s outstanding goal in the second half, England have now qualified for next summer’s European Championship in Germany.
It’s been a tough start to the season for Harry Maguire but his recent performances should give him confidence to hopefully thrive as the season goes on.
The English defender was vital for United in their win against Brentford, and he will be hoping to continue his rich vein of form when the Red Devils travel to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United this Saturday.
After the victory over Italy, which secured their qualification, the former United skipper posted about the victory on his Instagram page and has received praise from his teammates.
In his post, Maguire wrote: “Special night at Wembley – Qualification Secured. We’re on our way!”
Jack Grealish and Declan Rice, who both play for some of United’s biggest rivals, responded to Maguire’s post.
Rice responded with: “My mannnnn.” Grealish also responded and wrote: “Top performance as always brother.”
Maguire’s confidence boost
As mentioned, it’s certainly been a tough time at Old Trafford so far for the 30-year-old Englishman. After being captain of the club for four years,
This summer marked the first time he wasn’t to be United’s main man.
However, it does seem like the confidence Maguire has gained is because of this. When playing for his club,
He no longer has to worry about the spotlight always being on him at Old Trafford.
Now, Maguire can focus on his own performances which have certainly seen a marked improvement compared to some of the other defenders that have worn the red shirt of United this season.
The Englishman should be a certainty to start United’s tough trip to Sheffield this weekend.
