Inter chief hints return of Onana

Inter chief hints return of their former goalie Andre Onana to Inter. Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta said ‘anything can happen’ when asked about potentially re-signing Andre Onana. The 27-year-old keeper left San Siro in the summer to sign for Manchester United. There he joined his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

Despite featuring in last season’s Champions League final, £47.4million Onana has been unable to demonstrate his quality so far at Old Trafford. After 11 games in all competitions he has conceded 19 goals. However, he’s been an utmost disaster in between the sticks on most of the occasions.

Inter chief hints return of Onana:

Onana’s contract at United runs until 2028. However, his former club’s CEO has already commented on his potential return to the San Siro.

“I can’t predict the future but in football anything can happen,” Marotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport. This clearly shows that Inter chief hints return of Onana back to Inter.

For sure it was great chapter for Onana and for us. It was also a successful deal to sign him for free and sell for that money.”

Onana signed for Inter on a free transfer from Ajax in 2022 but left just a year later in a deal worth around £47.2m including add-ons.

He made 41 appearances at the San Siro side last season and played in all of their Champions League matches. The Cameroon international also kept 19 clean sheets throughout the campaign, with just three coming his way so far at United.

However, he has been an utmost disaster since his appearance at United. He’s no way near United’s long served legend goalkeeper David de Gea. Rather, he, with some of his own mistakes, led the team in a diminishing position in the points table of the Premier league. Also the loss to Galatasaray in the Champions League by United was a thing that nobody, literally nobody, ever expected in their entire lifetime.
