Arsenal are interested in getting Harvey Barnes as they join Tottenham Hotspur. That in the race to sign the Leicester City winger.
Barnes is now on the Arsenal radar with a Premier League return. This is expected after Leicester City’s relegation.
That is according to a new report from the Daily Mail, who claim that Barnes is wanted by three London clubs.
It’s stated that Tottenham want to launch a double raid on Leicester. This is by signing Barnes alongside teammate James Maddison.
Possibilities this summer for Harvey Barnes
The Telegraph reported earlier in June that Leicester will seek around £40million for Barnes. This is whilst West Ham wanted to offer £30million.
Leicester may want even more money yet though as new boss Enzo Maresca comes in. And they won’t want to lose his star players on the cheap.
It would be impossible for to them to keep hold of the player if he wants to move. Leicester are in the Championship and has no competition with Premier League clubs.
Hailed as an ‘unbelievable player’ by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp few years ago. Barnes was a rare shining light in a dismal Foxes season.
Barnes racked up 13 goals in 34 Premier League games this past season. Continuing to pose a major goal threat.
The 25-year-old certainly won’t want to play in the Championship. He will be seeking an immediate Premier League return.
A move to Arsenal would be a little surprising though. Even if Mikel Arteta and co would like to land homegrown stars.
Barnes predominantly plays down the left flank. This is where Arsenal already have a couple of natural options in Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
It may be a similar story at Tottenham though given that Ange Postecoglou will have Son Heung-min on the left side.
Barnes will want to push towards the England squad for Euro 2024. So will have plenty to think about in terms of his playing time as Arsenal and Tottenham circle.
