David Ornstein gives his update on Ivan Toney to Arsenal

Ivan Toney

David Ornstein has shared the information he has been given about Ivan Toney. This is amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. The Athletic journalist has said that although Toney is likely to stay at Brentford. This is for the second half of the season. However things could change.

Journalist David Ornstein says that Ivan Toney is unlikely to leave Brentford in the January window.

Ornstein has said that it is more probable that Toney. He has been described “a world-class” player by former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster. He will leave Brentford at the end of the season or in the summer of 2025.

What Ornestein has to say about the Ivan Toney saga

David Ornstein went on to say:

As mentioned in previous weeks, Ewan, I think it’s most likely he stays. Especially now Mbeumo is injured for a significant period.

“You never know, though, and if he returns in style plus one of the big clubs finds themselves in desperate need of a striker before transfer deadline… perhaps things change.

It would need to be permanent move for very big money or a loan with a high obligation. Brentford already have a replacement of sorts in Schade and I’d back their recruitment team to bring others in, too, if needed.

But there have been no significant developments on Toney’s situation and right now I think the probable scenario is a sale next summer or free agency in 2025.”

There is speculation that Toney could cost £100 million for any club. We personally think that it is a lot of money for a 27-year-old striker. This is especially as the player has not played in the UEFA Champions League. In my opinion, Napoli and Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen would be a way better option for Arsenal at the Emirates.
