Chelsea signs young prodigy on the deadline day

Chelsea

The signing of Enzo Fernandez completed the dream January transfer window for Chelsea. But it wasn’t their last signing of this window. At the eleventh hour, they completed the signing of 17-year-old prospect Jimmy Jay Morgan from Southampton.

Teenage Sensation

With all news covering the record-breaking signing of Argentine sensation Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Little did people know that Chelsea added another great player to their squad. Morgan is said to be one of the best upcoming talents in English Football. He turned down a professional contract with the saints to ply his trade somewhere else. Finally ended up going to the blues. Chelsea managed to get his services even when he has 18 months left on his scholarship contract with Southampton and he will now proceed to the blues youth academy at Cobham. Chelsea will also have to pay heavy compensation to Southampton for this transfer.

Southampton manager full of praises for Morgan

“Jimmy [Jimmy-Jay Morgan] is a fantastic player with a bright future if he picks the right choices and the people that are working with him handle him well and if we work him in training and develop him into the right level,”

Southampton manager Nathan Jones said last week. But lately, he was overlooked by the latter and Morgan felt it was best for him to move from the club.

The Road ahead for Chelsea

The blues have spent a mouthwatering £323m in the January window, getting the likes of Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, and David Datro Fofana. Chelsea manager Graham Potter will be under more pressure to deliver. As things haven’t turned well for him and the club lately. With the record new signings, it is hoped that the blues will regain some lost ground. If not, sadly it will mean the end of things for Potter, who has had a turbulent time as a manager.
