Nottingham Forest appears to have missed the opportunity to secure the services of Deivid Washington. The player is reportedly en route to England, where he is expected to finalize a deal with Chelsea instead.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is hoping to successfully secure the signing of the striker. Meanwhile, the club appears to be emerging victorious in the pursuit. With an initial fee of £15 million now reportedly settled upon.

In addition to the initial fee, Chelsea has to pay an extra £2 million in add-ons for the acquisition of Deivid Washington. This move is happening due to a significant injury setback to Christopher Nkunku. He will remain in the sidelines for approximately three months.

The high regard Chelsea holds for the player is evident, as they are reportedly planning to offer him a contract that extends until 2029. Furthermore, there is an option to extend this contract for an additional year, underscoring the club’s commitment to Deivid Washington.

What is Chelsea planning in order to boost their attacking lineup?

It’s evident that Washington, the player Nottingham Forest was targeting, possesses considerable potential. Chelsea seems to be actively exploring opportunities within the South American market. In the current transfer window, they secured the signing of Angelo Gabriel. He was previously in link with a move to Forest. This underscores Chelsea’s efforts to tap into emerging talent from the region.

Chelsea’s financial capacity allows them to acquire a promising young player with the expectation of grooming them for top-flight action within a few years. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, require a player who can contribute immediately to their lineup. The differing priorities of the two clubs are reflecting in their respective transfer strategies.

While Chelsea may currently have a shortage of strikers, they are actively exploring alternative options to bolster their attacking lineup. The approach taken by Mauricio Pochettino, the manager, is of great intrigue, and fans are eager to witness the strategies he will employ at Stamford Bridge to address this situation.
