Chelsea have discovered who they face in their next FA Youth Cup matches as the complete draw was made. The entire draw revealed who the teams could face in the quarters and semis.

Under 18’s coach Ed Brands’ side defeated last season’s finalists Liverpool in the fifth round. It was an epic encounter that saw the Blues win by four goals to three, against all the odds.

The Reds scored three goals and took a comfortable lead through goals by Luke Chambers, Kaide Gordon and Oakley Cannonier. But Chelsea managed to equalise with three goals in just twenty minutes. Strikes from Charlie Webster, Jude Soonsup-Bell and Malik Maine Mothersille propelled Chelsea to 3-3.

It was then Tudor Mendel-Idowu’s goal deep into added time that proved to be the difference between the two sides.

THE ROAD FOR CHELSEA IN THE FA YOUTH CUP

Chelsea now go up against Blackpool in the quarter-finals. The winner of the tie will face either Blackburn Rovers or Nottingham Forest.

The tie, which comes a day after the first-team are in action against QPR at Loftus Road. It is being played at Stamford Bridge and will kick-off at 6pm.

On the other side of the draw, Manchester United take on Leicester City. The winner takes on either Wolverhampton Wanderers or Brighton & Hove Albion.

This is a great opportunity for the youth team to replicate what Thomas Tuchel’s side managed to do last season. A lot of the players will also hope to impress in order to get closer to the first team.

Premier League giants Chelsea have enjoyed unrivalled success in the FA Youth Cup in recent years, winning the competition seven times between 2010 and 2018. They boast of one of the best academies in the world in recent times.

They were also runners up in 2020 when they were beaten 3-2 by Manchester City.

With 2021 winners Aston Villa losing to Leicester in this year’s FA Cup, regardless of what happens, there will be a new winner for this season.
