Chelsea competing to sign Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea

This season, the 19-year-old Lavia has already established himself as a key member of the Saints’ team. He has started 13 Premier League games and contributing one goal from defensive midfield.

A bright future awaits for Lavia in the sport. But that future may not involve Southampton, particularly if demoted to the Championship in May.

A recent story indicates that Chelsea might be the teen’s next stop.

The Daily Mail also claims that in the summer transfer window, the Blues are competing with Manchester United and Arsenal to sign Lavia.

He is said to be “in Chelsea’s sights,” and there have reportedly already been “enquiries” about a prospective deal.

Furthermore, moving forward, the Blues’ midfield must be strengthened with young players. With Enzo Fernandez hopefully being the start of their renovation at that position.

After the recent 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, journalist Jabob Tanswell referred to Lavia as “frankly absurd,”. He also suggested that he would be the perfect long-term addition for Chelsea.

The Saints teenager, who is only 19 years old, is obviously still developing. He has already made 15 Premier League games and earned one cap for Belgium’s Under-21 team.

Lavia, who makes £25,000 a week, might find it difficult to refuse the opportunity to join Chelsea. Enabling him to realise his full potential and eventually establish himself as a regular at the centre of the midfield.
