Chelsea are considering letting Callum Hudson-Odoi leave Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel has been pressing for a new center back for a while now. Chelsea are without their first choice center backs as Antonio Rudiger and Andres Christensen are no longer a part of the club. Although Chelsea have signed Kalidou Koulibaly, Tuchel needs at least one more signing.
Tuchel is fuming at the Chelsea squad after their preseason performances, Especially after the loss against Arsenal. The German went on to criticize the team’s commitment after the game.
“I think we deserved to lose – which is fair enough – because we were simply not good enough. We were absolutely not competitive. The worrying part is the level of commitment, physically and mentally, for this match was not the same, it was far higher for Arsenal than us.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chelsea Situation
We can argue they played with I think their strongest line-up; they’ve had now together several weeks and for more than one year. They’ve strengthened their line-up, played the same structure, and this is the line-up they’ll try to start Premier League games. It was not our strongest line-up and this is part of an explanation, but only a little part. The other part is worrying.”
Chelsea’s creative control has not been up to the mark so far in preseason. However Callum Hudson-Odoi can be given a chance as he only played for 18 minutes in the game against Arsenal. Hudson-Odoi is young at 21 years old, However has a lot of injury concerns and is injury prone more often than not. Moreover he has gained weight in preseason and Tuchel considers him to be one of the players and is a dispensable part of the squad. Chelsea are looking to part ways with the player.
