Arteta spotted shouting at Arsenal player during West Ham defeat last night

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta was spotted shouting at Aaron Ramsdale during Arsenal League Cup exit at West Ham last night.

That’s according to Football.London, with the outlet claiming that Mikel Arteta was urging the Arsenal shot-stopper to avoid kicking the ball long.

Ramsdale was given the nod last night and made his first start for Arsenal since the 1-0 win at Brentford in the previous round of the Carabao Cup.

It’s well-documented that the Englishman has lost his place in Arteta’s side,

With David Raya the preferred choice between the sticks at the moment.

The 25-year-old endured a frustrating 90 minutes last night and was even spotted slamming his fists into the ground after West Ham’s third goal.

Ramsdale looked to have been fouled just before Ben White put the ball into his net in the first half

There was nothing he could do to stop Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen from scoring.

But it seems that Arteta’s main concern came when Ramsdale had the ball at his feet on Wednesday evening.

Football.London reports Arteta was spotted shouting at Ramsdale to prevent him from going long last night.

It came during a spell in the first half when the Englishman was under increased pressure while he had the ball at his feet.

The outlet notes that while Ramsdale was tempted to go long.

He listened to his manager and attempted to play out from the back.

It’s widely believed that Arteta prefers Raya over Ramsdale due to the Spaniard’s ability with the ball at his feet.

But Raya has looked shaky at times while playing out from the back recently and Ramsdale didn’t look completely comfortable last night either.

Nevertheless, it’s a good sign that Ramsdale is trying to adapt his game to regain the number-one spot at Arsenal.

The £30 million barely put a foot wrong before replaced by Raya. But it’s clear that Arteta prefers the former Brentford man at the moment.

Ramsdale faces a tough ask to force his way back into the side.
