Arteta expressed approval for knock of substitute Takehiro Tomiyasu led to 1-0 victory over Manchester City at The Emirates.
It was the first time under Arteta when Arsenal beat City in the Premier League. Gunners found the spark in second half while the four substitute played key role during 86 minutes banger.
after a long time it was Thomas Partey who was involved by boss Arteta. His fantastic long ball headed by Takehiro Tomiyasu to Kai Havertz, where he set up the ball for Martinelli. And the Brazilian didn’t even hesitate to made his countryman Ederson helpless.
Martinelli got the fame he needs for long while. Even his mates appreciate him a lot.
Arteta about Takehiro Tomiyasu and many others
Takehiro Tomiyasu link up in Gunners Winner where we saw a tactical tweak, 24 year-old playing “as a left winger”.
In post match press conference Arteta said:
“I just told him that! I said Tomi, you know they put Doku there in the first moment. After they changed him to the other side, and we made the changes straight away, and then we see him as a left winger chasing the keeper.”
“To be fair, the subs were excellent again. They were involved in the goal, but they brought so much physicality, energy and quality to the team.”
Even so far Martinelli marked a dramatic comeback as he was playing after five matches while upturn from hamstring injury.
Arteta added:
“He’s been saying for a few weeks that I was going to be there for City,”
“Obviously, we were saying that Gabi it would be too early for you, and yesterday he said, boss I told you, I’m going to be ready for this.”
“And it happened after 30 minutes that Leo (Trossard) felt something in his hamstring. So, when I turned around, he was already ready, to go with his kit, and saying ‘boss, I’m ready to go’. He’s just got the joy of a kid, his mentality is incredible at his age, and it’s just a joy to have him because today he could change the game and he was really helpful for us to win.”
