Arsenal were truly convinced that Mudryk would join them

Mykhailo

Arsenal staffs were absolutely convinced that Mykhaylo Mudryk would join them in January. The young Ukrainian winger was tearing it up for Shakhtar Donetsk. He was playing brilliantly in the Champions League. Arsenal ended up losing him. They signed Trossard instead. They won’t regret that decision a single but.

The Mudryk Arsenal saga during the transfer window

Mikel Arteta’s side appeared to be the front runners for the highly rated Ukrainian winger, only for their London rivals to hijack the deal last week and seal the transfer over the weekend. Leandro Trossard has been a brilliant addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad since signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window. The Belgian forward has already registered 9 goal contributions in just a few appearances for the Gunners following his £ 27 million move from Brighton.

Mykhailo Mudryk has divided the world at this point due to his transfer. Mudryk is considered a transfer flop by some while some think that he still needs time. Many players take their time in adapting to the Premier League. He could also be seen as one but his price tag doesn’t help him either.

The Gunners looked destined to sign the Ukrainian during the January transfer window. But during the later stages, Chelsea came in and hijacked the deal. This left the Gunners very unhappy. Shakthar wanted 100m pounds which Chelsea was willing to offer but the Gunners refused. Maybe he would have done better in England if he had moved to Arsenal. After all, Leandro Trossard who joined this winter contributed 8 league assists and 1 goal to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The Chelsea newcomer reportedly earns £97,000 a week, but it’s safe to say he hasn’t quite proven it yet. Mudryk is still a prospect while Trossard is a ready made product for Arsenal.
