Arsenal now have big decision to make over Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney

Newcastle United are still in the hunt to secure the services of Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this summer transfer window.

According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle United are one of the clubs in the race to sign Kieran Tierney in this transfer window. But Arsenal’s £30 million asking price has proved a stumbling block in negotiations so far. They want a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Arsenal must make a quick decision on Kieran Tierney

Tierney has clearly fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal. He lost his place in the starting XI to Oleksandr Zinchenko last season. And was left out of the match-day squad altogether for Arsenal’s opening Premier League fixture. That is ofcourse of the new campaign against Nottingham Forest.

Summer signing Jurrien Timber started at left-back for the Gunners against Steve Cooper’s side. But was unfortunate enough to sustain a knee injury. That is now likely to see him sidelined for a significant period. Takehiro Tomiyasu was brought on to replace the Dutchman on Saturday. But Arsenal now look light in that part of the pitch. That is with Zinchenko still short of full fitness himself.

If Arsenal can get their £30 million asking price for Tierney. Then those funds would certainly come in useful. They may well be used to replace Tierney directly. They also can invested in other areas of the squad where reinforcements should be welcome. Such as midfield or in a versatile attacker.

Tierney’s sale would also help to offset some of the spending that has already gone into acquiring new players. With the likes of Timber, Kai Havertz, and Declan Rice. However, the Gunners may need to lower their demands. That is in order to get a deal done.
