Arsenal miss out on Aston Villa star player, signs new contract

About Football Express UK

Arsenal tried to sign Aston Villa player Douglas Luiz in the summer window transfer. The Brazilian has signed a new long-term contract to stay at Villa Park.

Gunners had three bids rejected for the Brazilian

Arsenal wanted to bring Luiz to Emirates on transfer deadline day. Thomas Party and Mohamed Elneny had injuries and the gunners were lacking a defensive midfielder.

Mikel Arteta had shown interest in Aston Villa midfielder. Luiz was looking for a move to Emirates but the move was failed due to Villa rejecting three bids from Arsenal. The negotiations failed between the two clubs due to Arsenal refusing to improve their £25 million offer.

Besides, Douglas Luiz has signed a contract extension with Villa that will keep him at the club until 2026.

After signing the contract the Brazilian said,

“I am so happy. I love this club.

He added,

“I love the people here, the staff, the players and I’m so comfortable and so happy. This club opened the door for me to come here to the Premier League, I’m so happy.”

With his contract extension, Arsenal will look to sign Youri Tielemans, whose contract will expire next summer. Leicester City are facing a tough time and the Belgian midfielder will look for an exit if they get relegated.
