Arsenal might retain Thomas Partey despite Fenerbahce’s interest

About Football Express UK

This summer, while Arsenal intends to retain him, Thomas Partey is still a player who attracted a lot of interest. The Ghanaian midfielder is still a crucial player in Arsenal’s midfield. Hence at this point interest has continued to come his way, especially from Saudi Arabia and Fenerbahce. However, despite unexpected interest from Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce, Arsenal has no intention to part ways with Thomas Partey in the final stages of the summer transfer window. The Super Lig team is rumoured to have inquired about the Ghanaian midfielder. The Turkish outfit continue their search for a No. 6, but the Gunners are in no mood to consider the possibility of a potential transfer.

Thomas Partey to stay at Arsenal this season

Juventus and Saudi teams are interested in Thomas Partey, but little has moved forward as of yet. The player is not presently considering a move to the Pro League, according to Partey’s agents. The player, however, is obviously still part of Arteta’s plans. In the 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest last Saturday, the former Atletico Madrid midfielder was deployed as a right defender assisting Ben White.

Fabrizio Romano clarified about the interest shown by Saudi clubs and Fenerbahce. Romano stated:

“Many of you have also been asking me about the strong rumours involving Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Fenerbahce. What I can tell you is that three weeks ago Arsenal rejected approaches for Partey from Saudi clubs for around €30-35m. Arsenal said it was impossible to accept that kind of money, they wanted more than €45m to let Partey leave the club”.

“So, I don’t really see this as a realistic opportunity for any club at the moment. I don’t see Fenerbahce paying that kind of money. And of course Mikel Arteta is very happy with Thomas Partey, so to change the situation more than €45m will have to be the fee.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta already praised Partey’s abilities. He considers him as a key player in Arsenal’s midfield. Arteta stated:

“Without a question of a doubt, Thomas Partey is a super important player for us and for me. I want him to be in the team.”

Partey has two years left on his contract, so the Gunners will have to decide what to do with him when he enters the final year of his agreement. But as of now, Arsenal will not consider any offers for the Ghanaian midfielder
