Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made the right decision of not starting Eddie Nketiah against Leicester City claims Alan Shearer. The Gunners also beat the Foxes 1-0.

Hence, the Gunners are now two points ahead of second placed Manchester City. The Gunners are also hoping that Eddie Nketiah can learn from the snub.

ARSENAL MANAGER PRAISED FOR TAKING THE RIGHT DECISION

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has praised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for not starting Eddie Nketiah against Leicester City, Mikel Arteta also used the versatility of Leandro Trossard. Hence, he played the new January signing as a forward. Therefore, Shearer praised him for playing Trossard as a striker ahead of Eddie Nketiah.

Alan Shearer speaking on the Arsenal forward further said, “I think it’s the right decision to leave Eddie out. I think he needs a bit of rest. I think, after the Manchester City game, he missed a couple of big chances. He had a couple of big chances last week. Hence I also think he has found it tough of late, so I think it’s the right call to sit him out for a game or two and give Trossard a chance down the middle.”

EDDIE NKETIAH HAS TO PROVE HIMSELF FOR MIKEL ARTETA TO TRUST HIM LONG-TERM

Arsenal won the game against Leicester 1-0 through the goal of Gabriel Martinelli. However, the Gunners also looked dangerous going forward without Eddie Nketiah. Hence, Eddie Nketiah has to again prove his worth to Mikel Arteta. He has to also make sure that he has a big impact in training and also in substitute appearances that he will get.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has also said that Mikel Arteta took the right decision of giving rest to Eddie Nketiah. He further said, “We are talking about somebody who has come in and he’s really had to take the baton and run with it and keep Arsenal where they are. Arsenal started well. He came in and did that. I think that might be a strain on him as well because he is somebody that’s not played a lot of football, so that might be having an effect – it’s good management.”

Arsenal will also now hope that the return of Gabriel Jesus can have a positive impact on the mindset of Eddie Nketiah. They will also hope that he finds the consistency of scoring regularly. However, it is clear that Mikel Arteta trust the ability of the England youngster.
