Indeed, speaking on ShotsTV, Chris Wheatley has claimed that Arsenal are very keen on Douglas Luiz, claiming that they see the Brazilian as the ideal replacement for Partey.

“Yeah, so it’s the weekly Douglas Luiz update. He’s obviously a player Arsenal like, we’ve spoken about him a lot in the past few weeks. He’s a Brazilian midfielder, Edu is Brazilian and a big admirer of the player, as is Mikel Arteta. He’s kind of seen as an ideal replacement for Thomas Partey who has had a series of injury problems over the past few years,” Wheatley said.

But we’d argue that he’s actually the perfect replacement for Granit Xhaka.
Luiz is at his best when he’s given the freedom to roam and arrive late into the penalty area
As he has for Villa all season long, and he’d be a brilliant fit in that Xhaka role at Arsenal.
Declan Rice can fill in where Thomas Partey used to and Luiz could do Xhaka’s old job,
And that would give Arsenal one of the most formidable midfield partnerships in all of Europe.
Regardless, this is a rumor that all Arsenal supporters should be excited about,
But, as you can imagine, signing Luiz from Villa won’t be easy.
