Arsenal defender could be out until October and will be missed

Arsenal

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu could be missed the games till October. Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has been out of action due to an injury since March. The Gunners were the best team in the country for more than two-thirds of the season. They coped really well when the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko were out. But William Saliba and Tomiyasu suffering serious injuries on the same day ruined their season.

Arsenal defender will be badly missed during the first few games

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will be missed as he was used a utility player. He could play anywhere on that back four. He is the most versatile player in that Arsenal squad.

Arsenal hosted Sporting Lisbon in the second leg of their Europa League knockout stage game in March. And that was the fixture that changed the course of their season.

Mikel Arteta’s men were in the driving seat to win the Premier League title at that point. But before the half-time whistle, both Tomiyasu and Saliba were forced off the pitch.

Arsenal would’ve surely had a much better campaign if one of Tomiyasu and Saliba were fit. The latter is for obvious reasons, but if Tomiyasu hadn’t suffered that serious knee problem, Arsenal could’ve used him at right-back. That would have allowed Ben White at centre-half instead of Rob Holding, who had a few games to forget. That would’ve surely given the Gunners a better chance of winning the Premier League title, but sadly for them, the two injuries ruined what could’ve been a sensational campaign.

New possible signings at Arsenal

Arsenal were already looking to bolster their midfield so losing Xhaka will possibly mean two new arrivals in the engine department. West Ham star Declan Rice and Brighton ace Moises Caicedo are top of the shopping list. The rumours say that the deal will cost up to €80 million. Rice is keen on a move to a Champions League team. He dreams of winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

Being young Rice could develop into a beast under Arteta. However, Thomas Partey has been one of the best Defensive Midfielders this season. Interest in Rice is certainly rife right now, with Bayern Munich the latest club to be joining the hunt. How the West Ham United faithful would love to see the England international move on abroad rather than any of their capital rivals.

Arsenal are now in ‘pole position’ to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to reports. The Gunners saw two huge bids rejected for Caicedo in January. With the second offer thought to be worth up to £70 million.

Should this potential new man have an impact anywhere near that of Zinchenko in his debut year in north London. However, he could well be the catalyst for further progress under this stunning regime. Caicedo and Rice seem to be the main players they are after. Although, it looks like a revolution will take place in the midfield of Arsenal this season
