Additionally, Arsenal are also looking to tie one of their midfielders down with a new contract. Despite this, as things stand, the two parties have yet to reach an agreement – can they come to terms?
Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto has backed Arsenal to secure a deal for Brentford’s Ivan Toney in a recent interview on TalkSPORT.
While he says that he ‘would love to see him at Chelsea’, he believes that his next destination will be the Emirates Stadium – and that he will leave Brentford sooner, rather than later.
On the prospect of Gunners signing Ivan Toney, Minto said:
“With Ivan Toney, it’s a case of when he leaves Brentford, not if. I’d love to see him at Chelsea, but I think he’ll be at Arsenal next season.”
Arsenal yet to agree terms with Jorginho
Jorginho’s contract at Arsenal is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2023/24 Premier League season – and talks between the two parties are thought to be at a standstill.
The 31-year-old’s agent, Joao Santos, maintained that ‘the priority remains Arsenal’
But also mentioned that ‘everything is at a standstill’ regarding contract talks. Jorginho signed for Gunners in January 2023 from Chelsea.
Previously, when asked about a potential return to his native Italy, Jorginho said:
“I’ve doubts as I’d like to return but I don’t know when is the right moment.
I want to return to Italy but I feel to have still many things to achieve at Arsenal,
I want to fight for titles there.”
