Arsenal best Champions League squad as Ramsdale and Vieira return

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arteta can name his strongest Champions League squad vs Sevilla as long as registered senior players available for selection.

This season’s UEFA Champions League group stage is about to reach the halfway point and Mikel Arteta is on course for a dream scenario ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Sevilla.

It’s been a mixed start for the Gunners on their return to Europe’s top table after a six-year absence. On matchday one,

Arsenal comfortably beat PSV Eindhoven 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium but were beaten 2-1 by RC Lens almost three weeks ago – despite taking the lead through Gabriel Jesus.

Now, there’s a strong argument that both results were achieved with Mikel Arteta not having his best squad available.

After all, Gabriel Martinelli and Thomas Partey sidelined for the PSV fixture,

With the former also missing the trip to France because of a hamstring injury.

A lot of changes in the team

However, the Arsenal situation has changed for the better. As no fresh injuries have reported following the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the weekend,

The Arsenal manager is on course to have every first-team player registered on the 25-man List A squad available for selection against Sevilla.

And for the Group B clash at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium,

Arsenal manager Arteta is permit to name a 23-man matchday squad – 11 starters and up to 12 substitutes.

But though this is a dream scenario, the Spaniard will still have to leave at least one senior player back home in England.

Of course, it’s worth a reminder that only 24 senior players named on List A. Jurrien Timber is the notable absentee as a decision was took to not register the Dutchman

After he sustained an ACL injury on his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest in August.

However, fellow summer signings Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and David Raya have all included, as has youngster Lino Sousa. Even though James Hillson is on List A, Karl Hein

Who is on the B list – has been named on the bench in both Champions League fixtures so far and the trend is likely to continue.
