Arsenal are looking to sign the Italian defender Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino. The gunners are in impressive form at the moment and are currently sitting at the top of the league. Moreover, they would like to further strengthen their squad in the upcoming January transfer window. As per the recent reports, Arsenal are monitoring the 24 year old defender’s situation and they want to add him to their squad.

The 24 year old graduated from Torino’s academy in 2018. Post that, he made his appearance for the senior team and has been a regular player ever since. Furthermore, his hardwork and determination are making sure that his performance is not unnoticed by the scouts of other European clubs.

As per sportwitness, Arsenal are not the only club in the pursuit for Alessandro Buongiorno. The gunners are accompanied by the 2 Milan giants, AC Milan and Inter Milan. However, it won’t be easy for the Italian giants to sign the defender. They’ll have to negotiate with Torino’s chairman Urbano Cairo.

Why Arsenal are looking to sign a defender instead of a striker?

As we already know, Arsenal need a specialised striker in their squad. As the rumors have it, the North London club are aiming for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. But he’ll cost them approximately more than £100 million. Arsenal don’t have that much financial resources as of now and spending above the prescribed limit would breach the regulations of the premier league.

Therefore, the gunners are focusing on strengthening their defence instead. As per the reports, Alessandro’s contract with Torino will end in 2028. However, the club is willing to let him go after this season for £35 million. Arsenal can afford that amount and the player will certainly be a value addition to the club keeping in mind the fact that the defender has scored 2 goals in 12 appearances this season.
