Everton defender Yerry Mina is keen on leaving the Goodison Park stadium at the end of this season as per the report in Torcedores(via HITC).
The 27-year-old joined the Toffees back in 2018 from Barcelona for a fee of around £26 million. The Colombian has been involved in 88 games in all competitions for the Premier League side, scoring seven goals.
As per the report, Yerry Mina is eager to relocate his future at the end of this season and willing to return to South America. The defender’s agent has reportedly offered the Brazilian side Flamengo to sign the centre-back and the player is also interested in joining them.
The report also stated that the Brazilian side is interested in the Colombian and are ready to make an offer. Flamengo wants to sign the 27-year-old on a loan with an option to buy. Everton is asking for around £1.7 million in loan fees.
Should Everton let go of Yerry Mina in summer?
Selling Yerry Mina might be a good decision by Everton. Although the defender has shown glimpses of his talent at Goodison Park, it wasn’t enough to convince the Toffees fans. Meanwhile, the defender has also struggled with injury issues since joining the club.
Frank Lampard likes to play out from the back but the Colombian isn’t the most comfortable with the ball in his feet. So, letting him leave at the end of this season and signing a new defender will be the right decision from the club’s hierarchy.
The Merseyside club is eyeing to improve their squad and challenge for the European places next season. But, the 27-year-old might not be the best option to help the club in achieving that goal. So, selling the centre back will be a very shrewd decision by the English boss.
Meanwhile, the Toffees are enduring a difficult season this term. As they are currently fighting to survive in the Premier League where they started the campaign with the hope of mounting a challenge for the European spot. They are currently sitting in 16th in the table with 22 points in 22 games.
