Wolves vs Arsenal: Match Preview, team news and Predicted Line-ups

Arsenal vs Wolves

Wolves will take on Arsenal this Thursday on the 10th of February. The match will kick off at 7:45 pm at the Molineux Stadium.

Arsenal would be looking to overtake Man United, who dropped points against Burnley last night. The Gunners will try to get into the Champions League spots gradually. Wolves on the other hand are just 2 points off Arsenal and want to contest for European spots as well. This game is essentially a 6 pointer for both sides. They are within touching distance of each other.

Wolves have been on a good run of form of late and will want to continue on that road. Bruno Lage’s side went past Brentford 2-1 with a Ruben Neves stunner giving them all 3 points. The Wanderers will view this as a 6 pointer match where they have the chance to topple a direct rival for European spots.

Wolves Premier League Form: W W W D W

Arsenal has 2 games in hand compared to United and 3 compared to West Ham. The Gunners will want to win their games in hand and consolidate their position in the top 4. Mikel Arteta’s are coming to this game after a frustrating result against Burnley where they dropped 2 points, with the match ending in a goalless draw.

WOLVES TEAM NEWS

Wolves ought to welcome Romain Saiss back against Arsenal to the usual rearguard following the Africa Cup of Nations, as Toti Gomes drops out and Jose Sa returns in goal for veteran John Ruddy.

The hosts are still missing Jonny, Willy Boly, Pedro Neto, Yerson Mosquera and Hwang Hee-chan, and it remains to be seen if Francisco Trincao will be able to return from COVID-19 infection.

Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence could form a two-man strikeforce if Trincao is not fit to play, meaning another midfield overload of Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Leander Dendoncker.

WOLVES PREDICTED LINE-UP

Sa; Kilman, Coady, Saiss; Semedo, Neves, Dendoncker, Moutinho, Ait-Nouri; Jimenez, Podence.

ARSENAL TEAM NEWS

As for Arsenal, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are both back from suspension to form their familiar midfield pairing, but AFCON runner-up Mohamed Elneny may not return just yet.

Nicolas Pepe did join up with the group in Dubai and will be available, but Cedric Soares and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both injury concerns, leaving Arteta with a key decision to make at right-back.

Ben White will likely deputise in that area if required as Rob Holding features in defence, but Cedric is thought to have a relatively good chance of shaking off his hip problem to make himself available.

ARSENAL PREDICTED LINEUP

Ramsdale; Cedric, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Xhaka, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Lacazette.

OUR PREDICTION

Wolves 0 – 1 Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s side will come out with the win in what will be a cagey fixture according to us. Wolves aren’t known for their goal-scoring prowess while Arsenal getting the clean sheet can be debatable with the Absence of Tomiyasu. However, Arsenal is expected to get the win in what has been a roller-coaster season for them and their game against Wolves. Bruno Lage’s Wolves side meanwhile will attempt to topple the Arsenal cart and secure all three points.
