However, Liverpool came out as winners with the help of Virgil Van Dijk’s goal. The Liverpool captain scored in the 118th minute of the game, leading his team to a win. This final will be remembered for long as it was an intense clash. Moreover, both the teams had goals ruled out after long VAR checks during the 90 minutes of the game. Raheem Sterling’s effort for Chelsea was disallowed because Nickolas Jackson was offside while Van Dijk’s header was disallowed for an infringement by Wataru Endo.

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup with academy players

Liverpool’s injury crisis forced Jurgen Klopp to introduce his youngsters in the Carabao Cup final. The academy players who played were Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, Conor Bradley, James McConnell, and Jarell Quansah. However, Chelsea’s ‘billion-dollar’ side did not manage to defeat ‘Jurgen Klopp’s kids’. Liverpool were missing their significant players due to injury issues. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominic Szoboszlai, Diogo Jota, and Curtis Jones were some of them. Mohamed Salah was present at Wembley but was not fit to perform. However, even through all these circumstances, the team came out strong and managed to get the win.

Jude Bellingham wowed by Liverpool’s display against Chelsea

The Man of the Match, Virgil Van Dijk was over the moon after the win. He took to Instagram to express his happiness by captioning his picture “that’s for you, LIVERPOOL!” Van Dijk received praises from many football stars including Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham. The Real Madrid wonder commented saying “what a player”. Van Dijk’s performance was flawless from start to end. The captain played his role proficiently for his side. The Dutch defender leveled up for Liverpool’s defense and refused to let Chelsea’s attack through.
