West Ham United vs Brighton Hove Albion: Match Preview

Bertrand Traore

West Ham United will hope to end their losing streak as they host Brighton & Hove Albion tonight. The Hammers lost their last two Premier League matches while the Seagulls are on a very bad 8 match winless run themselves.

Both the teams had excellent starts to their new season. Brighton however found it difficult to seal the games drawing six of their 13 matches. West Ham, even after their two consecutive defeats are 4th on the table, showing how amazing a job manager David Moyes has done with the team.

However, Moyes will not want to continue this trend and will be hoping for his players to fire on all cylinders. Brighton manager Graham Porter on the other hand will be concerned with his teams’ inability to finish their chances and hoping for his team to make a response in the London stadium.

WEST HAM UNITED VS BRIGHTON HOVE ALBION: INJURIES AND TEAM NEWS

The major concern for Hammers going into the match would be their left-back Aaron Cresswell. The 31-year-old injured his back when he hit the post saving a sure goal from going in during their match against Manchester City.

While Cresswell is touch and go, West Ham will surely be without Angelo Ogbonna, who is out for some time due to his knee injury. Said Benrahma was substituted in their previous match and could only feature on the bench as Moyes will look to freshen his squad.

Steven Alzate and Danny Welbeck are the two long term absentees for Brighton. Potter could be tempted to rotate his side as the teams head into the busy December period. This means that the likes of Tariq Lamptey could be on the bench as the manager tries to manage their recoveries.

PREDICTIONS AND POSSIBLE LINEUPS

WEST HAM UNITED: Lukasz Fabianski; Vladimir Coufal, Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma, Ben Johnson; Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice; Jarrod Bowen, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals; Michail Antonio

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION: Robert Sanchez; Joel Veltman, Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Marc Cucurella; Yves Bissouma, Enock Mwepu; Leandro Trossard, Jakub Moder, Solly March; Neal Maupay

PREDICTIONS: WEST HAM UNITED 2- 1 BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION

Both teams are looking to bounce back from their recent poor form. However, the Hammers look in a better position compared to the Seagulls.

Not being able to score and win matches have taken a big hit on the confidence in Brighton players. Their fans booing them at home last time will not do much favour in helping to lift the mood. For Potter, no matter how much he says he is happy with the performance unless results turn positive, questions will be asked.
