West Ham United midfielder clears the air on Manchester United transfer links

Flamengo is not in touch

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has spoken out on the potential move away from the club to Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Hammers midfielder seemed annoyed over the links of a potential exit from the club this summer. The 23-year-old has relished an impressive campaign during his stint with the club so far and wishes to continue the same.

His performances have been much spoken of which is why big Premier League clubs have paid heed to it. Manchester United and Chelsea are both keen to land Rice in the transfer window this summer onto their side.

Rice to leave West Ham?

Rice has been an integral part of the West Ham setup and believes he could continue to flourish by staying. However, the Hammers midfielder had to come out and clear the air regarding his potential ‘exit’ this summer.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said-

“I’m going to be captain of West Ham this season. It’s an honor,”

“Whatever happens off the pitch takes care of itself. I can’t control that.

“It is annoying because of the numbers that get attached to your name. Obviously, you can’t control that at all.

“Sometimes you read and see stuff and you don’t want to hear because it’s not true. As I said, I can’t really control that.

With two years left in his contract the player even instilled faith in the manager and the West Ham fans. He further added-

All that speculation, that’s what comes with playing well, I suppose.

“Nothing’s happened, nothing’s officially happened. I’ve always said until anything actually happens, there’s no point talking about anything.

“I’m a West Ham player, I’ve got a contract with West Ham. I’ll always respect that. Every time I put on the shirt, I want to be the best player, I want to give 100 percent.”

Surely the statements made by the Hammers midfielder would give confidence to the club. Rice will be seen in action as they head to Luton Town on Saturday.
