West Ham plotting a move for Arsenal loanee William Saliba

About Football Express UK

West Ham United are reportedly showing interest in signing Arsenal loanee William Saliba as per the report in French outlet Jeunes Footeux.

After failing to impress Mikel Arteta, the defender was sent out on loan to Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille at the start of this season. The 20-year-old has displayed a promising display under Jorge Sampaoli, making 21 appearances in the league.

According to the report, following an impressive stint at the Stade Velodrome, the youngster is attracting interest around Europe. As AC Milan and Real Madrid are monitoring the Arsenal man’s progress. Meanwhile, West Ham is one of the Premier League clubs that have shown a concrete interest in Saliba. And they are reportedly ready to offer around €30 million for the defender.

However, it is not clear yet about Arsenal’s plan for the 20-year-old’s future. But, it will be tough for the French club to make the youngster’s loan move permanent following the interest from big European clubs.

Should Arsenal keep William Saliba at their disposal?

Keeping William Saliba at the club and giving him proper game time to develop his career will be the right decision from Arsenal. The defender is currently only 20. And he has been one of the stands out defenders in the French league this season. So, he has the potential to become a world-class centre-back in future.

However, the north London club spent big last summer, overhauling their defence. So, it will be tough for the Frenchman to break into the starting eleven. The former Saint-Etienne man should fight for his place at the Emirates Stadium to establish himself in the Premier League.

On the other hand, if Arsenal manages to qualify for European football next season. Then they will need proper strength in depth. So, the youngster could get chances to impress the Spanish boss.

However, if West Ham can guarantee playing time to Saliba, then joining the Hammers could be the perfect decision for the youngster. As he will play for a side who are currently fighting for the Champions League spot. And he will get plenty of experience to flourish his career. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the talented centre-back.
