Burnley have appointed Vincent Kompany as the new manager. Burnley have had a terrible season as they play in the Championship next season. They missed out on staying in the League as they lost their final game against Newcastle United 2-0.
Burnley allowed Sean Dyche to leave the club mid-season as Burnley struggled to stay above the relegation zone. While Burnley played significantly better football under Mike Jackson, It was not enough for them to stay. Burnley will play in the Championship where they have to either win the whole thing for automatic promotion or finish at the top to battle it out and gain a spot. The Championship is very competitive and much harder to win than the Premier League. Burnley will have a difficult time finding their feet however if they pass this hurdle, The rest of the patch is a straight road.
Kompany speaks on taking the role
Vincent Kompany has been the manager of Anderlecht for the past two years. The former Manchester City Captain had spoken about the offers he rejected before he chose Burnley.
“I see only potential and that’s exciting for me, “It’s true I had other offers and when I laid down all the offers on the table, some of them were perhaps more appealing in terms of name and in terms of what they would represent to the wider public, but I had a chance to look into everything that Burnley was in great depth and what they wanted to achieve.
I’m not saying it will be easy, but I saw a path that will be different to other places. I see a plan, I see good people. I want to work with people who are already in Burnley. Together, without necessarily having to change everything, you can see the core of everything you appreciate about the club – the culture, just how honest people can be, how warm and friendly they are. Then you add some detail to take all of this good stuff to the next level. I’ve chosen this project because I know that after a difficult start, will come an incredible future.”
