Raphael Varane would join Manchester United but due to quarantine restrictions, the date for medicals hasn’t been decided yet. The 28-year-old centre-back was keen to accept a new challenge in the form of playing in the Premier League and Harry Maguire will now have a more reliable defender alongside him.
The France international had a difficult season for Real Madrid. Now, the club had now sold two of their main defenders – him and skipper Sergio Ramos.
If there is a further delay, the chances of him featuring early will decrease gradually.
Manchester United waiting for the perfect opportunity for Varane to undergo medical
Raphael Varane has been a key member of Real Madrid as well as for his country, France. However, it was a disastrous campaign as arch-rivals Atletico Madrid won La Liga.
However, Varane is a prolific defender who also scores some screamers. And that’s what the Red Devils need right now. Jadon Sancho joined the English giants and Varane was the next big name linked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
However, recently the club have officially announced the transfer in their social media accounts.
The Frenchman would be moving to Old Trafford for a reported fee of around £41 million and the contract would be till 2025. However, he might have to prove that he is COVID negative as he recently trained with his former team. Then, he could be allowed to link up with his new teammates.
Nevertheless, the transfer would be a huge hit as it makes sense with legendary Manchester United former gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson’s words,
“Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles”.
