Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has made his decision regarding his future amidst reported interest from Manchester United.

Tuchel has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge following sanctions applied on owner Roman Abramovich. Abramovich has had his assets frozen, which has massive implications for Chelsea. But Tuchel is determined to stay on as head coach.

CHELSEA FUTURE AFTER SANCTIONS

The UK government has decided to freeze Abramovich’s assets and announced on Thursday morning.

Chelsea is now not able to sell any tickets or merchandise, and cannot offer new contracts to current players as well as complete transfers.

The sale of the club has therefore been put on hold for now. Abramovich had announced last week that he put the club up for sale. There has been plenty of interest already regarding new ownership for Chelsea.

The 55-year-old’s reported links with Vladimir Putin has seen the UK government take matters into its own hands.

However, despite uncertainty at the club, the German manager isn’t thinking about leaving. The Telegraph claims that up to six clubs are interested in the services of Thomas Tuchel. Manchester United are one of the six clubs and are on the hunt for a new manager.

But the former PSG manager is currently happy at the club and isn’t looking to leave.

UNITED COULD CAPITALISE ON CHELSEA SITUATION

United are looking for a new manager and have Tuchel on the top of their shortlist. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick also favours Thomas Tuchel at United. However, it looks like the German will be staying at Chelsea.

Although, a move isn’t ruled out at the end of the season. The 48-year-old will make the ultimate decision depending on the new owners and a few other factors.

This will be a turbulent season for Chelsea as off-field matters have heated up. Tuchel will be facing the pressure as Chelsea are still alive in 3 competitions. Good on-field performances will be key to taking some attention off the club.

The German has become a crucial figure at Stamford Bridge, taking over in the middle of last season. He has to lead the club to the Champions League title and the Club World Cup title.

CARRAGHER ON UNITED’S NEXT MANAGER

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher wrote about Tuchel in his column for the Telegraph on Thursday. And he backed United to make a move for him.

Carragher wrote:

“Manchester United have been presented with the ideal opportunity to recruit the manager who should be their number one target: Thomas Tuchel.

All roads have been leading towards Mauricio Pochettino since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. After Paris St-Germain’s latest Champions League failure, [Mauricio] Pochettino will be available soon.

But he may have stronger competition for the United job than he could have imagined.”
