Chelsea could become the world’s richest club if Trillionaire backed Saudi Media company can manage to take over the Blues’ ownership as per the report in CBS Sports (Via Daily Star).
Roman Abramovic has earlier stated his desire to sell the London based club having bought it back in 2003. However, since then, the UK government have sanctioned the Russian billionaire due to Vladimir Putin’s Ukraine invasion. And this has complicated the process of selling.
According to the report, the Saudi media company has already placed a £2.7 billion bid with Chelsea fan Mohamed Alkhereiji to become the new Blues’ owner. Alkhereiji reportedly has a net worth of £1.7 billion, however, he will be backed by the Trillionaire Mohammed bin Khalid Al Saud.
Khalid Al Saud’s net worth is around £1.19 Trillion. And if this takeover goes through then Chelsea will become the richest club in the world. Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has a net worth of £9.7 billion, while Newcastle United owner have around £500 billion.
Meanwhile, apart from them, Todd Boehly and Nick Candy are also linked in this takeover. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the West London club.
How long will it take to change the hands of Chelsea ownership?
Chelsea are in different situations at this crucial stage of the season and the future is not promising for them until the changing of ownership.
Following the sanction, the Blues’ account has been frozen by the government. And the club will not be able to make any signings or sell players and also cannot renew the contracts.
Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta’s current contract will expire at the end of this season. And the club will have to let them for free if the situation doesn’t change any time soon.
Meanwhile, despite the situation in Ukraine, the Blues fans keep on supporting their owner Roman Abramovic. And it is understandable from the Londoners, given the Russian have made the club one of the big forces in world football since becoming the owner back in 2003.
