Leeds winger Raphinha has rejected Liverpool‘s offer as he intends to move to Barcelona. Liverpool were aiming for a swap deal with Leeds as they wanted Takumi Minamino.
Raphinha and Leeds have had contrasting seasons last season. While Raphinha has had a good season personally, Leeds have had a terrible one. Leeds have battled relegation all Summer and just managed to stay in the Premier League on the final match day as Burnley were defeated by Newcastle. While Leeds stays in the Premier League, Burnley will be playing in the Championship. Raphinha wants to leave Leeds as he wants a move to Barcelona and have rejected Liverpool’s advances.
Minamino has had a quiet couple of years at Liverpool. He hasn’t had the best of time at Liverpool as he has not been able to get a lot of game time. Minamino has only been able to start in the cup games and other odd games in the Premier League. However, he has been amazing for Liverpool in the cup games as the Reds have been able to win the FA cup as well as the Carabao cup. Moreover, Minamino has had a great fan following ever since the cup wins.
Raphinha wants Barcelona and vice-versa
Leeds will be hoping to keep Raphinha in the Summer as they have stayed in the Premier League. Leeds are in a better position than they were before as they have managed to avoid relegation. Although Leeds wants Raphinha to stay, It is unlikely he will considering several clubs are circling around him like vultures. However, Raphinha wants to move to Barcelona as Xavi wants him at the club. Moreover, Xavi rates the winger very highly and Raphinha would be a great signing at Barcelona. Liverpool needs to find a new replacement before the transfer window opens.
