Transfers: PSG front runners for Vitinha

About Football Express UK

PSG have appeared to be front runners for Porto midfielder Vitinha. Manchester United earlier had shown interest in the midfielder however PSG have an edge over United.

Vitinha has scored 4 goals and 5 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions for Porto. Moreover, he has started in 27 games and has helped Porto win the Primeira Liga.

Manchester United had shown interest in the midfielder as they are in the market for new players. United have had issues in the midfield this season as they finish 6th with 58 points. This was their worst season ever since Alex Ferguson left the club. Moreover, the club had a zero-goal difference in the Premier League which meant they conceded as much as they scored.

This was due to a lot of reasons. One, United were a counter-attacking team until the season before when they had a 2nd finish. However, the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho meant that the team had to switch tactics. United switched to a possession-based style. Previously Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, and Shaw excelled in a counter-attacking setup as they were a defensive team. However, the switch in tactics switched the team into an attacking one which meant less coverage for defense. The players could not adapt and they had a rough season. Secondly, The players had been overused and had a poor run of form in the season. Moreover, they had suffered a lot of injuries in the run as well.

United have had another setback as Vitinha joins PSG in the Summer. United have been targeting several players, especially midfielder – Frenkie De Jong. Although, United do have plenty of options as they have a couple of months to get quality players.
