Transfers: Manchester United targets RB Leipzig forward

About Football Express UK

Manchester United have targeted Ex-Ajax and RB Leipzig forward Brian Brobbey. Brobbey was on loan at Ajax in the second half of the season where he scored 7 times in 13 appearances.

Brobbey joined Ajax back in 2010 through their youth systems. He made his first-team debut in October 2020. Brobbey scored 6 times in 19 appearances for Ajax in the 2020-21 Eredivisie before he moved on to Leipzig. However, he has not scored a goal for Leipzig in his debut season. This meant he was off on loan to his roots where he scored 7 important goals for Ajax which helped Ten Hag to his third Eredivisie title in 4 years.

RB Leipzig are open to selling the forward as Ajax have shown interest in him. However, Manchester United are in the market and are pushing hard for the Dutch International.

United lack attacking options

Manchester United have a lack of attacking options as the new season approaches. Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata have already left the club leaving the club with even fewer options. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his intent to leave United. United are in deep trouble as they need attacking reinforcements before the new season.

Although Ronaldo could end up staying regardless of his intention. Moreover, Erik Ten Hag has decided on giving Antony Martial another chance at Old Trafford as a center forward. Marcus Rashford will be given a new position to play in the new season according to reports. Although United does have Jadon Sancho, he is very injury-prone and United does not possess enough depth to cover for him.

Brobbey will be a good signing for United as he has played under Erik Ten Hag. Both of them share a great relationship and Ten Hag wants Brobbey at Old Trafford.
