Transfers: Manchester United and Arsenal join race for Sven Botman

About Football Express UK

Arsenal and Manchester United have joined the race for Lille centre-back Sven Botman. Earlier, AC Milan and Newcastle United had shown interest in Botman. Newcastle went a step further and had made an offer. However, Botman had other plans as he had agreed on personal terms with Milan for a 5-year contract.

Newcastle United wanted the midfielder as they have had a weak defense. The Magpies have conceded easy goals throughout the season. However, they managed to score more and managed to finish 12th. Newcastle wants to add Botman into the mix and elevate their defenses. Moreover, Newcastle are a club in transition as they are under new management. The new owners want to make Newcastle a super club and will allow Eddie Howe to sign his choice of players in the Summer. Newcastle wants to make sure the 22-year-old is their first signing of the Summer.

While AC Milan on the other hand are on a high after lifting the Scudetto after almost a decade. Milan wants to rise from their ashes and are hoping to add Botman to their squad and ensure the legacy of Milan center backs like – Maldini and Jaap Stam.

United and Arsenal interest

United have been out of good defenders recently as they have conceded as much as they have scored last season. Moreover, the defense has been muddled with injuries, Hence they want Botman to bolster the defense as well as give it some stability.

Arsenal have had the same injury problems and have fewer options to rotate players. They want to add Botman to the mix to pair with either Rob Holding or Ben White.

Botman is young however is relatively experienced. He is a giant on the field and can easily wrestle his opponents and come out on top. He is a great future prospect and could be a huge asset to any team in the future.
