Transfers: Manchester City agrees on terms with Cucurella

City Cucurella

Manchester City have agreed on terms with Brighton’s left-back Cucurella. Cucurella has won Brighton’s player of the year award and clubs have been circling around him. However, City have gone a step ahead and have agreed on terms with the defender.

Brighton have already lost Yves Bissouma to Tottenham. Brighton wants to keep most of their squad intact and would love it if Cucurella stays. However, this does not seem the case as City have agreed on terms, and is only a matter of time before they make an official bid.

Cucurella has been in impressive form as the defender won the Brighton player of the year award in his very first season in the Premier League. Moreover, Cucurella has great displays throughout the season. One of his best performances of the season came against Manchester United at Home where they won 4-0.

City have observed Cucurella’s form from afar and have made moves for the left-back.

Manchester City Transfer window

City have been very busy in the transfer window as they signed Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland. Thus ending City’s strike curse as they did not have a proper striker ever since Sergio Aguero left the club. Moreover, City wants to fill in several other positions including left-back. The first choice left-back Kyle Walker is aging and has a couple of years left in his contract. It is unlikely City would renew Walker’s contract. Moreover, Walker is very injury prone and he was injured at the final end of the season missing key fixtures.

City would be hoping Cucurella could prove to be the replacement for Walker. Cucurella would likely receive little game time at first however it would increase as the season goes on. Cucurella would be taking the mantle of the first choice left-back from Walker.
