Transfers: Forster agrees pay cut for Tottenham

About Football Express UK

Tottenham have signed Fraser Forster on a free transfer. The Southampton man was to be a free agent in the Summer. However, Tottenham have swooped in and have got hold of Fraser as a backup for the first-choice keeper Hugo Lloris.

Fraser previously enjoyed a 5m contract with Southampton which he signed back in 2017. The deal gave him almost 100K/week. However, Fraser has agreed to a pay cut to play for Tottenham. Considering Tottenham are a bigger club and have more potential than the likes of Southampton, Fraser made a good deal. He won’t be getting too much game time at Tottenham. He would likely be starting in the early stages of cup games like the Carabao and the FA cup and the odd premier league games.

This is the second time that Tottenham have signed an experienced English keeper as a backup. Tottenham previously signed Joe Hart in 2020 as a backup. Hart brought in much-needed experience into the squad. Moreover, he was given the odd games to start and contribute in.

Tottenham Fall and Rise

Tottenham were on a downward path ever since they let go of Jose Mourinho. Mourinho was on the verge of achieving history for Tottenham as he had taken them into the final of the Carabao cup. However, they went on to rightfully lose the game.

As the season came to a close, they signed Nuno Espírito Santo as manager. However, he was unable to change Tottenham’s fortunes. Hence they were falling into a downward spiral. Eventually, Nuno was let go off and Tottenham signed Conte.

Signing Conte was the single best decision Tottenham have done in ages as the man is a serial winner. He only manages teams for short periods however he brings in much-needed output. Moreover, Trophies follow Conte wherever he goes.

Tottenham haven’t won a trophy yet however their best bet is on Conte as he is the only person who could achieve the impossible. Conte has done wonders so far as he has taken a struggling Tottenham into the top 4 of the Premier League.

Conte needs to be supported and it is only a matter of time before he delivers something.
