Transfers: Chelsea looking to add wingers

About Football Express UK

Chelsea are going into the transfer market in search of new players. Chelsea are moving forward with a rebuild as many players have left the club or are leaving. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have left the club already. Moreover, several other players are leaving the club.

Thomas Tuchel had said earlier that Chelsea is going to be rebuilt in the Summer.

“Players are going out. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge. I don’t know where we are from day one. What I can promise is that I will be here if I can promise that! I will be here with full energy and positive energy no matter what. We will still work for Chelsea and I refuse to think of negative scenarios. We will be competitive, on which level we will see.”

Chelsea want wingers

One of the positions Chelsea intends to fill in is the forward as they have shown interest in both Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona.

Raheem Sterling is no longer someone who easily walks into the first team for City anymore. Moreover Sterling is just an extra to the squad. City could be switching tactics in the Summer as they have Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez. City could be employing a two-striker formation that does not require any wingers. Moreover, City still have Riyad Mahrez who is likely to be used ahead of Sterling. Hence they would be open to selling Sterling.

Ousmane Dembele on the other hand has found his feet at Barcelona finally. He has been playing very good football under Xavi and is considered an asset. However, Barcelona are in debt and they intend to sell players in the Summer. For the right price, Barcelona could sell Dembele.
