Transfers: Arsenal in the run for Raphinha

About Football Express UK

Arsenal have targeted Leeds forward Raphinha alongside Barcelona. Raphinha has been crucial for Leeds in a terrible season as they manage to stay just above the relegation zone. Leeds had hoped to keep Raphinha if they managed to stay in the League. However, the Brazilian aims to leave Elland Road in the Summer.

Barcelona had earlier agreed on personal terms with Raphinha for a contract that lasts five years. However, Barcelona haven’t made an official offer yet. Hence, Raphinha stays with Leeds for the time being. Although, Barcelona will be making an offer for Raphinha in the coming days.

The Blaugrana have been gradually improving under the vision of Xavi. Xavi transformed the side into Barcelona years ago. Barcelona have employed their Tiki-Taka playstyle with Xavi’s personal touch.

Barcelona are planning to offload a couple of players in the Summer with the like of Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, and Frenkie De Jong being a couple of the prominent players. While De Jong is set for a move to United, Chelsea have shown interest in Dembele and Griezmann with a move back to Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona needs Raphinha if Dembele does end up leaving Camp Nou in the Summer. Barcelona needs a pacey winger on the flanks and Raphinha is the perfect solution.

The Arsenal interest

Arsenal have shown interest in Raphinha. Arsenal are out of decent forwards moving into the coming season. The Gunners had lost the services of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in January as he moved on to Barcelona. Moreover, Alexandre Lacazette has confirmed his departure from North London earlier. While Nketiah has been good for Arsenal, his contract situation is a bit of a mess. Nicholas Pepe is expected to leave Arsenal in the Summer. Arsenal needs a new forward considering the position they are in. However, it is unlikely that Arsenal could persuade Raphinha as they do not play in the Champions League while Barcelona does.
