Liverpool are looking to sign Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry. A couple of days after Sadio Mane announced his intention to leave Liverpool.
Sadio Mane is leaving Liverpool after spending half a decade at the club. He has won every trophy possible with Liverpool in the last 5 years- Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, FA cup, etc. Mane leaves a big legacy as Klopp’s first signing and his first success at Liverpool. Mane has found the back of the net 110 times and assisted 38 times in 263 appearances in the Premier League.
Serge Gnabry is leaving Bayern after a trophy-laden career. He was an integral part of the Bayern squad which won the Champions League in 2020. The 2020/21 Bayern team were one of the most dominant teams in recent years as they demolished past every team that came in their way – Barcelona being an example as they were defeated 8-2.
Liverpool could eye an exchange deal for Gnabry. However, it is unlikely Bayern will agree to an exchange deal considering the player’s age. Gnabry is 26 and his best is yet to come. Whereas Mane is 30 and only has a couple of years unless he maintains his fitness.
Should Liverpool get Gnabry?
Gnabry is one of the best players on the flank. Moreover, he is very versatile and can play centrally as well. Mane shares the same ability as Gnabry and more or less gives the same output. If Gnabry is able to give at least half of what Mane offered to Liverpool, The Reds have a great deal on their hands. However, there is the chance Gnabry won’t’ be able to adapt to the Premier League as he wasn’t once before. Although the situation is different this time around as Gnabry is more experienced. Liverpool should definitely go for Gnabry as he has the quality and can fill Mane’s absence.
