Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Everton forward Richarlison ahead of the next season
With the transfer window kicking in, Antonio Conte’s Spurs are in advanced negotiations with the Merseyside-based club to secure the services of Richarlison. The transfer could cost Tottenham upwards of £50million for the forward.
However, the Brazilian international has a contract with the club till 2024, which would make life difficult for Conte’s side if the Merseysiders are unwilling to sell him moving forward. But considering the club’s dire finances, Everton could use Richarlison to their advantage to secure a good deal.
Tottenham are in need of a Backup for Harry Kane
Factoring in the forward’s profile, Richarlison could prove to be vital on the pitch for Tottenham as he has been for the Toffees. Moreover, Spurs have struggled to find a suitable backup for Harry Kane and have depended on the latter for goals almost every season.
This could be the perfect time for Conte to hijack the deal for the Everton forward and use him as a reliable second fiddle to Kane. The 25-year-old has amassed 11 goals in 33 appearances and has provided five assists across all competitions for the club this season.
Securing the Champions League berth and pipping their local rivals Arsenal to the fourth spot, Conte could add more squad depth with the inclusion of Richarlison upfront.
With Kane being a regular in the first-team setup, the transfer for the Everton forward could also mean that he would compete with Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski for the wide berths. Richarlison is also capable of operating in the flanks as he did on numerous occasions for Lampard this season.
The attacking threat he could bring would help the club play at a more competitive level and could be a no-brainer for Conte to secure a move for the Brazilian star for the next season. The inclusion of Richarlison would certainly help Conte’s side challenge other elite clubs for silverware in the future. It remains to be seen if the transfer eventually happens with Spurs holding a strong interest in the player.
