Tottenham player ratings vs Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted Southampton in an entertaining clash in the Premier League. Che Adams produced a stunning late surge to come from behind and beat Tottenham 3-2.

The Saints started strongly creating a lot of chances. Jan Bednarek scored an unfortunate own goal to open the scorecard for Tottenham in 18 mins. However, Armando Broja quickly equalized the scoreline in 23 mins.

The Spurs took the lead again with Heung-min Son in 70 mins. However, Mohammed Elyounoussi once again equalized in the 80 mins to make the scoreline 2:2. The final twist in the match came in the 82 mins, as Che Adams scored the winner.

As a result of the loss, Tottenham remained in the 8th position. Meanwhile, Southampton moved up the league table in the 10th position.

Hugo Lloris (GK)-7/10 – Made an excellent save in the opening minutes of the match to deny Adams from close range. Kept Tottenham in the match for a long period of time.

Davinson Sanchez (CB) – 3/10 – Had a very bad game. Meanwhile, he got caught out twice by long balls. Made a lot of clumsy challenge which made him see yellow card.

Cristian Romero (CB) – 7/10 – Had a goal disallowed for offside. However, had a better performance in defence than Sanchez and Davies.

Ben Davies (CB) – 3/10 – Had one of the worst nights. Failed to step up in the crucial moments and was bad in the aerial duels.

Emerson Royal (RWB) – 4/10 – Had a very hard time to keep up with both Perraud and Elyounoussi. His lack of pace was completely exposed. Elyounoussi and Adams ghosted past him to score their headers.

Harry Winks (CM) – 5/10 – Failed to provide stability in midfield. However, perfrmed better with Bentancur’s introduction.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) – 4/10 – Put the cross in which Bednarek scored an own goal. However, had a very bad match overall as he booted the ball aimlessly most of the times.

Sergio Reguilon (LWB) – 7/10 – Missed a golden opportunity to open the scoresheet with Tottenham. Had a good game both offensively and defensively.

Lucas Moura (RW) – 7/10 – Pretty good performance. However, squandered a lot of chances. Assisted Son by sending a ball across goal to make it 2-1.

Harry Kane (ST) – 8/10 – Gave a great ball across goal which Reguilon should have converted. Dropped deeper in the second half and picked some excellent passes. Had a good game overall.

Son Heung-min (LW) – 8/10 – Scored the second goal and almost scored the first one. One of the best performance by the South Korean international.

Substitutes:

Rodrigo Bentancur (CM) – 6/10 – Came on for Hojbjerg. Immediately gave a more progressive and attacking presence on the ball.

Dejan Kulusevski (RW) – 5/10 – Had a fair game coming on as a substitute.

Steven Bergwijn (ST) – 6/10 – Scored the equalizer as soon as he came on. However, it was declared offside.
