About Football Express UK

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule. The German will see his contract with Bayern end in the summer and can now negotiate with other clubs over pre-contract.

Tottenham will become one of the three sides that is looking to bring Sule in the summer. According to news outlet Fichajes, Chelsea and Manchester United are the other sides alongside Spurs that want to sign the defender.

Bayern Munich has confirmed that Niklas Sule will not be extending his contract and that the 26-year-old will leave the club in the summer. For Tottenham, manager Antonio Conte wants reinforcement in the squad and Sule is an excellent option at the back.

NIKLAS SULE TO NOT SIGN EXTENSION WITH BAYERN MUNICH

Niklas Sule has been an important part of Bayern Munich as well the German National team in the last few seasons. The German got his move to Bayern from Hoffenheim back in 2017.

Though injuries did reduce his playtime, the 26-year-old have 158 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions. He has scored 6 times in this time and assisted a further 4. He was also part of the Bayern team that won the treble in the 2019/20 season. (all stats taken from Transfermarkt)

Sule plays as the central defender and is versatile enough to play in the right-back role if needed. His performance has also earned him 37 caps for the German national team and he looks to be one of their main defenders in the coming years.

Bayern Munich did try to convince the player to stay with them. However, both parties could not agree on common terms. With his contract coming to an end in the summer, Niklas Sule can now start negotiation with other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.

TOTTENHAM TO BATTLE PREMIER LEAGUE BIG GUNS FOR SULE SIGNATURE

However, it will not be easy for Tottenham to convince Sule to sign for them. While Conte has improved in the performance of the team, there is still doubt about the Champions League qualification.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United are reported to be interested as well. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of Sule and will look to bring in new defenders considering the contract situation at the club.

Tottenham manager Conte has identified defence as one of the areas in need of recruitment. While Antonio Rudiger seems to be away from their reach, the Sule deal could be possible. The task will be surely cut out for both Spurs chairman Daniel Lewy and director of football Fabio Paratici.
