Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Brentford: Post-match analysis

About Football Express UK

Tottenham Hotspur beat London rivals Brentford quite comfortably by 2-0 in a Premier League home encounter.

Spurs were dominant in the game and visitors didn’t seem to be up for the challenge and displayed slow tempo with the possession. Antonio Conte’s side got the breakthrough from an own goal by Sergi Canos. In the second half, the host doubled the margin courtesy of the contribution from Son Heung-Min.

Following this result, Spurs moved up to the sixth place with a game in hand. They’ve currently accumulated 22 points from 13 games. Two points behind the fourth-placed West Ham United, having played one game less. On the other hand, Brentford are currently sitting 12th in the league with 16 points from 14 games.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Brentford:

After this victory, Spurs’ new manager Antonio Conte has won three consecutive home games in all competitions and become the fourth manager to in a row do this record along with Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Tottenham have now won 28 in the last 32 games against the newly-promoted side, with not being conceded in the last three encounters. On the other hand, Brentford have now lost back to back games against the London rivals for the first time since 2016.

After the game speaking on the club’s website. Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte congratulated his team for the victory and said:

“Congratulations to the players. It was a good win against a very dangerous team, well organised, very strong on set pieces and throw-ins, where anything can happen. They are strong, very tall, but I’m satisfied because defensively, we also showed great attention. It was good. Hugo showed great personality in those circumstances.”

“We performed well, with great desire to get three points, to finish with a clean sheet, always important. We missed chances to improve the final result, but it’s important to create chances and I think we’re going to improve in our performance and the danger (we create) in the opponents’ box.”

“So, lots of positives, but as I said, now we enjoy until midnight, after midnight, one second, we have to think about Sunday (Norwich at home, 2pm), another important game for us. We have to try to get three points. We have to try to rest and prepare for another tough game against a team that played two days ago.”

The upcoming fixtures for both teams:

Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Norwich City in their next game on Sunday in the Premier League and Brentford will travel to Elland Road to encounter Leeds United on the same day.
